Valentine's Day 2003 - Sonnet 32

I have watched so many glorious dawns
Defeating darkness; go away dim night.
And in each one a promise of new songs
To serenade my love at morning's light.

Awake dear one and hearken to my call
And fly away with me on gossamer wings
To places where the darkness cannot fall
And harmony reechoes soft and rings.

I am unmask'd; my song is filled with words
Of flights of fancy free and lyric love,
But I, in truth, confess my wings are birds;
Larks a-flight like floating clouds above.

For thy sweet love doeth make me break the rules
And I can only babble like the fools.
