Napa Valley Wine Library
40th Anniversary
11 Aug. 2002
Silverado Country Club
Napa, CA
What a wild and crazy
weekend! After a fantastic wine dinner
at Cafe Bizou
in Pasadena on Thurs. night, I grabbed a few
hours sleep and then hit the road. I had to pickup Larry at
the Oakland Airport at 11:00 AM and then meet Gail & Dave
at Hanzell in Sonoma. Took a Starbucks Vente latte, but I made it.
At Hanzell
At Charlie Palmer's Dry
Creek Kitchen
in the Healdsburg Inn in Healdsburg
Note: It's
impossible to go from Hanzell to Santa Rosa,
check in the motel, change clothes and get to Healdsburg in 90 minutes.
Note 2: When the
Dry Creek Kitchen tells you
that there is no corkage on Sonoma wines, they lie!
Well, they lie after the first two bottles anyway.
Sat. AM
At Carmenet
At Pride Mountain
At Freemark Abbey
At St. Clement
At Terra Restaurant in St. Helena
Sun. AM
At Laird Family Vineyards
At Robert Sinskey
A fascinating wine
tasting accompaniment:
Roasted almonds seasoned with fried thyme.
At Pine Ridge
At the Napa Valley
Wine Library
40th Anniversary tasting

At the Silverado
Country Club
Royal Oaks restaurant
Mon. AM meeting with
Michael Verlander
of DuMOL
and Prima Restaurant in Walnut Creek
at Laird Vineyards
Just killin' time while Mike took the scenic route.
Larry insisted on
going to San Ramon to meet Dawn.
Which was great but then he wanted to
drive PAST the Oakland airport to pick up
MORE wine at Premier Cru in Emeryville,
Then drive BACK to the airport to catch a plane.
He says he got past
the airport security and walked
right onto the plane. They closed the doors and took off.
I was on the road the next eight hours.
Was this fun or
what?!
Thank you Napa Valley Wine Library!!
